France, by decree, will apply restrictions on traffic in summer for goods transport vehicles with a GVW greater than 7.5 tons on Saturdays, July 6, July 20, July 27, August 3, August, August 17 and August 24, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
However, this year, on an experimental basis, summer truck movement restrictions will not apply on Saturdays, July 6 and August 24, 2024 in the following regions:
Restrictions on truck circulation on July 6, 2024
- In the regions of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Grand Est, except for the A6 and A31 motorways in the North-South direction (towards Lyon and towards Beaune, respectively), which remain prohibited to traffic for these vehicles.
- In the Hauts-de-France region, except the A1 and A16 motorways in a north-south direction (towards Paris), which continue to be prohibited for the circulation of these vehicles from their connections with the A29 motorway (southern connection of the A16 ).
Restrictions on truck circulation on August 24, 2024
- In the regions of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Grand Est, except for the A6 and A31 motorways in the South-North direction (towards Paris and towards the Luxembourg border, respectively), which remain prohibited to circulation for these vehicles.
- In the Hauts-de-France region, except for the A1 and A16 motorways in a south-north direction (towards Lille and towards the Belgian border, respectively), which continue to be prohibited for the circulation of these vehicles until their connections with the motorway A29 (southern connection to the A16).
Also, a decree published on April 7, 2024 partially eliminates the circulation restrictions applicable to goods transport vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tons for vehicles that transport goods on behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games. and Paralympians (IOC) and identified for this purpose:
- From May 1 to October 31, 2024 for general and complementary restrictions that apply throughout the territory
- From April 8 to September 16, 2024 for specific restrictions that apply to certain roads in Île-de-France (see article 3 of the decree of April 16, 2021)
- The empty return of the vehicles mentioned in (1) and (2)
- The prefects of the defense and security zones may also grant temporary exceptions to the prohibitions, starting from April 8 and until October 31, 2024.
In addition, to guarantee the continuity of the supply chain of certain products, restrictions on circulation are also lifted in the following cases:
- Vehicles that transport only food products and products intended for human and animal nutrition, hygiene and human or animal health.
- Vehicles that guarantee the transportation of clean and dirty linen from hotel structures
- Vehicles that ensure transportation for waste disposal
- From July 19 to September 16, 2024 throughout the national territory for vehicles that ensure the supply of stations and distribution or recharging points with liquid or gaseous fuels and fuels, or with hydrogen
- The empty return of the vehicles mentioned in (1) and (2)
- The prefects of the defense and security zones may also grant exceptional temporary exemptions from the prohibitions, from July 19 to September 16, 2024
